The drywall has been removed from the Oxnard office.
Today was all construction for me. I began demoing some of the framing today and removing tile and rock.
I took all of the old doors to a recycling dump as well as some metal duct work. It was a load over 1,300 pounds. Next, I cut down about 2,500 pounds of tree 12 feet tall that blocked an area that has to be demo'd.
Then another load to one of my dumpsters in Sherman Oaks. Everything is being recycled.
So if you need an employment lawyer who knows how it feels to do physically straining work think of me.

Happy National Dog Day!
Hopefully all you canine lovers brought your pooch to work wherever it may be that you work.
The dog featured in this post is our official Oxnard Office construction canine. She is brought to work, on a daily basis, by one of the framers.

Happy Spring from Oxnard.
I can tell it's gonna be a good spring and summer in Oxnard this year. Spent today organizing some of our closed files at our Oxnard office.

After nearly two years, I got word today the Oxnard Department of Building has finally approved our plans to remodel our Oxnard office.
If we are lucky, within the next week, they will tell us what the permit fees will be. I am glad they finally acted because as I was getting onto the freeway this morning I thought about suing the City to make them do their work which was to look at my set of plans and issue a permit within a reasonable amount of time.

This is certainly not the best Dragnet I ever heard, and I did not go searching for this due to its subject matter. The premise is something happens when one sister, a very old lady, is at an especially exciting celebration out of town in Oxnard.
The attention the sister is getting in Oxnard drives the other sister to commit a crime!
This is almost exactly 59 years old and Oxnard is still as exciting a place.

The sink to the right is resting in a vice while the epoxy drys that undermounted it underneath the blue granite you see in this picture in an upstairs bathroom in the Oxnard office.
This is the imported blue granite with more waves in it. It will look lighter when there is more light.
Anybody need any of these slabs?

Oxnard Office Construction Update: Yesterday Edison energized our new 200 AMP panel.
We are finally running on all of our new wiring instead of jimmy rigged temporary power where the only plug in is in the former garage.
As you may also notice the elevations and string lines are in for the basecoat for concrete paths. That was a laborious task yesterday in which two laborers helped me. The string line was actually set with the assistance of my thirteen year old son on Saturday.

How do you like that? The site of the future Oxnard office conference room. It's starting to look like a real building!

Today I worked with the electric crew, plumber, framer, HVAC man, and cabinet maker.
I removed 16 cubic feet of earth, moved a lot, filled the truck up with rocks, concrete, and who knows what else and dumped it all. Now how's that for a real labor lawyer?

Construction continues at the Oxnard Labor Law Office.
Thus far it's been a lot of labor for me.

The framing and sheathing downstairs is coming along. Today I worked the site loading up a yard of dirt to use for grading elsewhere, removed more of the impossible concrete form, cleaning up, removed a lot of garbage. Then I confirmed measurements on the plans and changed the sizes of a few bathroom areas before the framing was too advanced.

I must say the view is getting a little better up in the executive retreat rooms of the Oxnard office.
Next, I think I will try taking the header off and raising the plate height.

I got up this morning and decided I wanted a better view of the Marina. You think this does it?
Seriously...The roof and almost all of the interior walls on the second story are, "No longer" at our Oxnard office. The new construction will start before a week goes by.

The second phase of the demo at the Oxnard office is now underway.
First I acclimated the second phase demo crew,. Then I plotted out on the slab where all of the new holes have to be made for structural upgrades. I then took a load of rocks, concrete, and bricks to the Oxnard dump. Next I rented a machine to quickly get up the floor tiles. Overall, the place was built like Fort Knox. The floor tiles were very firmly glued down, the stucco is very thick, the rock on the wall can be pounded with a 50 pound sledge hammer for an hour before one piece comes off.
Next I cut down a few trees blocking the locations of the holes for our structural upgrades. I made a few cuts so materials were free. Another load of rocks and concrete was loaded into my truck and taken to the dump.
In the middle of this I kept in contact with the office fielding and managing import legal issues.
Yep, this is what I do on one of my few vacation days from litigation during the year.

The Seabridge side of the harbor, and unfinished construction. Now that the economy is picking up will these condos be built after the seven year hiatus?

If you have been watching this page you have seen this area go from rough grade after demolition, to uncompacted rough gravel base, and now the final product. Today we did 8.5 yards of pea gravel concrete at 3000 psi for these walkways and patio areas not visible in these pictures, and 5000 psi for the parking area (an 8 yard load).
The Oxnard office - coming soon for an adversarial deposition downstairs!

Today we cut the fiberglass posts to go around the 36 foot of perimeter around the sea edge of the deck and two balconies. I order this fiberglass railing system from the State of Washington because I did not want to use wood or metal out by the ocean. Although it might not look like it, construction other than paint and carpet may be done next week at the Oxnard office!

For those of you following the reconstruction of the Oxnard office you may be thinking, at this point, the present structure does not in any way resemble what was there before. You can note several Simpson Strong walls and steel which went in this week. Today I removed some of the form from the new structural pour.

It's starting to look like a kitchen. By January deponents will be able to use this kitchen at Employment Lawyers Group Oxnard.
I promise the dust will be cleared by then, and if there's enough light the granite will look blue with yellow veins.

Now here's a real work lawyer. Rest assured that if I am on a construction site, including our Ventura office, I come prepared with a laptop.
Notwithstanding, I cannot guarantee a good internet signal. Unfortunately Verizon operates at a poor 3G signal in the Oxnard Marina area.

Substantial drywall completion upstairs at the Oxnard office in the 2nd Floor Southeast suite.
Who knows, maybe in two months we could take depositions in this location again, or meet clients.
